The journey to Wilmslow at HomeMarch 8, 2016
I am hugely excited to announce that the North West Air Ambulance Charity will be opening a new furniture outlet and donation station, Wilmslow at Home at Dean Row Court, Wilmslow in April.
Location and the space offered are both as equally important when we’re looking to open a new store for the charity. Since the closure of our Alderley Edge store in 2015, we have been keen to re-open in Cheshire, a community that is at the heart of our supporter network in the North West. The location in Wilmslow fulfilled our wish to be in Cheshire but also stood apart because of its great attributes, for example the 3,800 square foot store is a great size and has ample parking at the back, meaning this is the only charity store of its kind in the area.
As a furniture outlet and donation station, it is essential that supporters are able to drop off and collect large furniture items with ease. The large car park at the rear allows for this and ensures visiting the store is a relaxing, not taxing experience. The store will also be open from 8:30am to 6:00pm in the evening, allowing supporters to drop off or pick up at a time that suits, before or after work. If supporters can’t make it to the store at all they will be able to arrange a collection online or over the phone.
The furniture outlet will sell great quality pre-loved furniture and a range of brand new homeware, exclusive to our stores. We will be working with the charity’s corporate partners to ensure we have amazing offers on these items in future, but we will also need help from our wonderful supporters and are currently looking for donations of furniture, household items, china, curtains and bedding to get our store off the ground and flying! These donations can be taken to any of our current retail stores or can be dropped off at the new Wilmslow store from the start of March.
Supporters of our charity can also be involved, as to make sure the store gets off the ground smoothly, we are looking to recruit a full time and part time manager and 15 to 20 volunteers. Volunteering in store is a great opportunity to gain experience working in retail and also provides the support our charity needs to keep saving lives across the North West. The volunteer position caters to people of all interests and we are looking for volunteers who love music and records, film, books, collectables, antiques or all of the above! Any one who enjoys meeting and talking to new people or who has an eye for design will be a perfect fit for the role.
