Furness Building Society is flying high with the North West Air Ambulance after raising an amazing £1.1 million for the charity. Furness has been supporting the charity since 2005 through its affinity account scheme and raised £157,000 for the charity in 2015 alone.
This donation funded almost 300 of the charity’s life saving missions across the North West region in 2015, of which their helicopters flew over 2,000 during that time.
What’s more the money is also equivalent to a year’s worth of fuel for one of the charity’s three helicopters, which fly 365 days a year to motorways, remote countryside or city centres and cover 5,500 square miles across the North West. The speed at which the helicopters fly to the region’s specialist trauma hospitals can make a life changing difference to patients, preventing death and long-term disability.
